Andy Nicholson

Andy Nicholson, Vice-President, Market Development Petrochemicals, Argus 

Andy Nicholson works for Argus and is responsible for the aromatics and derivatives consulting business in Europe, the Middle East and India. He has over 35 years’ experience in the petrochemical industry, including 13 years with ICI in the UK and Germany and eight years with Rhone-Poulenc/Rhodia in France. He studied at the universities of Cambridge and Freiburg and is fluent in English, German and French.

Dorothée Arns, Executive Director, Petrochemicals Europe, Council for the European Chemicals Industry (Cefic)

Dorothée Arns is Executive Director of industry association Petrochemicals Europe, formerly APPE, and leads industry body Cefic’s petrochemicals programme.  In her first Cefic assignment, in 2006-11, Dorothée headed the European Solvents Industry Group. She previously held senior management positions in BASF´s chemicals business, including marketing, sales and eBusiness, having joined the company in 1995. Doroth

Joe Duffy
Joe Duffy,
 Principal, Argus

Joe Duffy joined Argus in 2009 and is now a Principal in Argus Consulting with a focus on petrochemicals in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. He previously worked for ICI, Huntsman and Saudi company Sabic, where he was responsible for the business management of Sabic’s olefins business in Europe. At Argus, Joe has worked on a number of consultancy projects covering the structure of the European olefins markets, investment opportunities in the Middle East and the potential for ethane imports to Europe. Joe is also responsible for the provision of regular client services for ethylene and polymers, the monthly olefins outlook forecast and the long-term ethylene and derivatives supply, demand and trade balance. Joe has an undergraduate degree and a PhD from the University of Glasgow.

 Steve Weber

, Vice-President, Petrochemicals Consulting, Argus

Steve Weber is Argus Media’s Vice-President for Petrochemicals Consulting. Steve began his career with Fina in 1979 as a Process Engineer and held various other roles in Fina’s economics and planning and marine transport divisions in the 1980s. He moved to the Port Arthur refinery in 1989 and later became Operations Manager at the site. Steve was named Plant Manager of the Fina-GE joint-venture styrene plant (Cosmar) in 1995, and Refinery Manager at the Big Spring Texas refinery in 1998. He returned to Louisiana in 2000 to manage the Fina-GE styrene joint venture and the Total petrochemicals polystyrene operation. Steve was named Senior Manager of Aromatics for Total in 2005, relocating to Houston.

Steve joined Dewitt in 2011, after spending two years with Solomon Associates in the refining and petrochemicals consulting area. Argus acquired DeWitt in July 2012. At Argus, Steve has led a diversified portfolio of projects in the refining, petrochemicals, pipeline and logistics segments.

Steve is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin. He holds a degree in chemical engineering and a Masters Degree in Business Administration.

Paige Marie Morse, Vice-President Propylene and Derivatives, Argus

Paige is responsible for market intelligence and analysis of propylene and related derivative markets at Argus. She has broad experience in business development and corporate planning in chemical and energy markets, and has held commercial and R&D roles at Shell, Dow, Sunoco and Clariant in the US and Europe. Paige has a PhD in chemistry from the University of Illinois and a BA from Kenyon College. She joined Argus in 2016.

Sarah Rae

Sarah Rae, Vice-President, Olefins Europe, Argus

Sarah has worked with Argus since March 2012 as their olefins consultant focusing primarily on Europe and the Middle East. For 17 years Sarah held senior strategic purchasing management positions in Ineos, Tessenderlo Chemie (LVM) and Rhodia, responsible for a wide range of materials including olefins, fertilizers and commodity raw materials. Prior this Sarah had various management and project roles covering most aspects of the Chemical business including business management, sales, planning and logistics. She graduated in Geology from Leicester University and started her career working for BP oil.

Sam Carew

, Senior Analyst, Argus

Sam joined Argus in 2014 as part of the aromatics team where he covers the toluene, xylenes and PET chain markets. His previous roles have seen him work with the Nigerian Government and Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency as well as perform research into the Nigerian and Middle Eastern power industries. Sam graduated with a BSc in physics from Imperial College London.

Charles is a Senior Manager in Argus Consulting’s London office. Charles has more than ten years consulting experience working with clients in the oil and gas industry, as well as the wider energy sector. At Argus, Charles leads client engagements focused on crude, refining, and oil products in Europe and Africa. Prior to joining Argus, Charles spent more than seven years at management consultancy Accenture, where he delivered projects in the energy strategy practice, for clients including oil majors, NOCs, refiners & marketers, automotive manufacturers, and chemicals companies.
Paul Brisson
Paul E. Brisson
, Vice-President, C4 Olefins & Derivatives, Argus

Paul is Vice-President for C4 Olefins and Derivatives for Argus Media. Paul held various Sales and Business Management positions with Diamond Shamrock Chemicals, OxyChem, Huntsman, Altivia, and TPC Group over a 37-year career in the industrial chemical industry. Beginning with OxyChem’s acquisition of Cain Chemicals in 1986, Paul moved into the olefins and aromatics side of the industry in Major Account Management and Development, specialising in North American Contract Butadiene Sales. Since joining DeWitt in 2007 Paul has been the C4 Business Consultant, with emphasis on the global butadiene markets. Argus Media acquired DeWitt in 2012. Argus Media serves clients that produce, consume and trade butadiene and butadiene derivatives around the world. Paul holds a BA in philosophy from The Ohio State University.

, Vice-President, Methanol, Argus

Tony has more than 30 years of commercial experience in the chemicals industry within Europe. He worked at ICI for 20 years in roles covering logistics/purchasing and sales management in the fertilizer and petrochemicals (methanol) business. He spent 10 years with Methanex Corporation, firstly as a Sales Manager and then as the Procurement Manager for Europe responsible for sourcing up to 500,000 t/yr of methanol to supplement production and meet sales commitments. He joined DeWitt and Company in 2011 as a consultant covering methanol and MTBE in Europe. The company was subsequently acquired by Argus Media.

Greg Dolan

, Chief Executive Officer. Methanol Institute

Greg has held a variety of senior management positions at global methanol industry association the Methanol Institute over the past 20 years. In June 2014, he was appointed permanent Chief Executive, after serving as acting Chief Executive for four years. He has presented papers on methanol-related topics at more than 90 international conferences, as well as writing magazine articles and book chapters on the methanol industry. He joined the Methanol Institute after spending a decade in a variety of public information positions in New York State with the Department of Environmental Conservation, the Energy Research and Development Authority and the Department of Transportation. Greg holds a BA in Political Science from Boston University, and carried out extensive postgraduate work in Political Communication at the State University of New York-Albany.
