The event was held with the support of Russian petrochemicals firm Sibur and the participation of the Rupec analytical centre.
The main topic was potential scenarios for the establishment of an octane pool over the next three to five years.
Participants included producers and consumers of methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE), tert-amyl methyl ether (TAME) and monomethylaniline (MMA), gasoline producers, shipping firms and terminals, regulators from Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus and other CIS states, and European market participants. Presentations were made by Sibur, Lukoil, Gazprom Astrakhan, TAU Neftekhim, Group Titan, Novokuibyshevsk Petrochemical, Rupec, Automotive Market Research (NAPI) and others.
Participants discussed potential changes in Customs Union technical regulations, the production of gasoline compliant with Euro-4 and Euro-5 emissions standards, the MTBE import outlook, and optimal strategies for the production of gasoline components by vertically integrated oil companies.
