Argus fertilizer event in Minsk brought together over 200 participants
The Argus FSU Fertilizer 2015 - Production and Logistics conference was held in Minsk, Belarus, on 9-11 September. The title partner of the event was Belarusian Potash Company, one of the largest global suppliers of potassium chloride. The conference was sponsored by Belarusian nitrogen and phosphate fertilizer producers as Grodno Azot and the Gomel Chemical Plant.
More than 200 delegates representing over 80 companies from 27 countries took part in the conference, discussing the current trends in the global fertilizer market, the largest producers’ plans for capacity expansion, the implementation of new mining projects in Commonwealth of Independent States countries as well as key logistical aspects. The event was attended by the leading fertilizer producers from Russia and CIS such as Belaruskali, Grodno Azot, Gomel Chemical Plant, Uralchem, Kazphosphate, Togliattiazot and Phosagro as well as by the largest global companies producing, exporting, importing and shipping mineral fertilizers.
Belarus’ deputy economy minister Dmitry Krutoy delivered a welcome speech to the conference delegates.
The first session focused on an overview of the global fertilizer market and included a presention by Michel Prud’homme (International Fertilizer Industry Associatio). Argus' Mounir Halim reported on trends in the global NPK fertilizer market.
The following sessions covering fertilizer production and logistics and included presentations by Belaruskali General Director Ivan Golovaty, Grodno Azot General Director Konstantin Mayanov, and Gomel Chemical Plant General Director Dmitriy Chernyakov.
During the last day of the conference delegates had an opportunity to visit the operating potassium chloride mines in Soligorsk. Belaruskali kindly provided a guided tour of the production facilities.

Argus and Belarusian Potash Company plan to hold their second fertilizer conference in Minsk next year.
