Argus recognises the fundamental importance of privacy, security and data protection to our customers and partners worldwide. As a global organisation, with legal entities, business processes, management structures and technical systems that cross international borders, we strive to provide information protection across all of our operations and deploy consistent, rigorous policies and procedures.
The purpose of this Privacy Policy is to provide you with transparency of our Processing operations, and it is designed to help you understand how we use and safeguard the Personal Information we hold about you, including information that may be collected from your online activity with us. This Privacy Policy also informs you about your rights in relation to our Processing of your Personal Information.
In particular, we may use your Personal Information in accordance with this Privacy Policy to form a view on which of our products, services and offers we think may be of interest to you. We will usually Process your Personal Information for marketing purposes on the basis that we have a legitimate interest to retain our existing clients and to attract new clients. You can manage your marketing preferences at any time, including by letting us know the industry sectors in which you are most interested or by unsubscribing from email marketing communications here.
It is important that you read this Privacy Policy together with any other privacy notice or privacy policy we may provide on specific occasions when we are collecting or Processing Personal Information about you so that you are fully aware of how and why we are using your Personal Information. This Privacy Policy supplements other privacy notices and policies and is not intended to override them.
This Privacy Policy is drafted in the English language. If there is any conflict or inconsistency between the English language version and any translation, the English language version prevails.

Argus is a global organisation with group companies operating in many jurisdictions, including certain jurisdictions where it is required to make supplemental information available. Please see the “Additional information for certain jurisdictions” section for information relating to the People’s Republic of China, India and California.
Definitions
- “Adequate Jurisdiction” means a jurisdiction that has been formally designated by the ICO or the European Commission (as applicable) as providing an adequate level of protection for Personal Information.
- “Controller” means the entity that decides how and why Personal Information is Processed. In many jurisdictions, the Controller has primary responsibility for complying with applicable data protection laws.
- “EEA” means the European Economic Area.
- “EU” means the European Union.
- “Personal Information” is any information that personally identifies you or from which an individual is identified or identifiable. This may include your name, address, telephone number, email address and profession or occupation.
- “Process”, “Processing” or “Processed” means anything that is done with any Personal Information, whether or not by automated means, such as collection, recording, organisation, structuring, storage, adaptation or alteration, retrieval, consultation, use, disclosure by transmission, dissemination or otherwise making available, alignment or combination, restriction, erasure or destruction.
- “Processor” means any person or entity that Processes Personal Information on behalf of the Controller (other than employees of the Controller).
- “Sensitive Personal Information” (sometimes referred to as special category data) means Personal Information which requires a higher level of data protection. Specific definitions of Sensitive Personal Information do vary between jurisdictions and can include: racial or ethnic origin; political opinions; religious or philosophical beliefs; trade union membership; genetic data; data related to a person’s sex life or sexual orientation; and biometric data. Passwords and financial information can also be considered as Sensitive Personal Information in some jurisdictions.
- “Standard Contractual Clauses” means template transfer clauses adopted by the ICO or the European Commission (as applicable) or adopted by a Supervisory Authority and approved by the ICO or the European Commission (as applicable) including the UK’s International Data Transfer Agreement and Addendum.
- “Site” means any website(s) operated, or maintained, by us or on our behalf.
- “Supervisory Authority” means an independent public authority that is legally tasked with overseeing compliance with applicable data protection laws.
