Transco to boost New York, New Jersey flows

Houston, 16 November (Argus) — Williams Partners has filed an application with federal regulators for a 63mn cf/d (2mn m³/d) expansion on its Transcontinental Gas pipeline (Transco).

The $84.6mn Gateway Expansion project, filed this week with the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, would increase firm transportation capacity for northeastern markets in time for the 2020-21 winter heating season by adding horsepower to a compressor station in New Jersey and modifying two meter stations.

Transco has contracted with PSEG Power and UGI Energy Services for firm transportation service under the project. Once complete, the project will help meet the growing demand for natural gas by northeastern consumers in New Jersey and New York.

PSEG supplies its affiliate Public Service Electric & Gas Company, which is New Jersey's largest provider of electric and gas service and serves 2.2mn electric customers and 1.8mn gas customers. UGI Energy Services supplies and markets natural gas and electricity to 40,000 customers across the mid-Atlantic and northeast.

The project's target in-service date is November 2020.
