Houston, 5 November (Argus) — The New York City Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has waived the newly enforced requirement to blend heating oil with 2pc biodiesel.
The mandate that began on 1 October has been temporarily waived through 2 December following Hurricane Sandy's obstruction of fuel supply routes.
“After consulting with heating oil industry representatives DEP has determined that there is a shortage of readily available heating oil containing two percent biodiesel in New York City,” the agency said in a statement.
The waiver permits that heating oil grades No. 2, 4 and 6 contain less than 2pc biodiesel by volume.
