Houston, Sabine Pass restrictions ease

Houston, 6 September (Argus) — Draft restrictions on the Houston Ship Channel and Sabine Pass waterways on the Texas Gulf coast eased today as water levels receded from Hurricane Harvey.

The Sabine River pilots' association reported draft restrictions of 34ft today, down from 30ft the prior day, with air draft restrictions at 132ft.

The Houston Ship Channel between buoy 18 and Baytown, Texas faces a 42ft restriction; further inland, including Pasadena, draft restrictions are 40ft. Beyond that, near the 610 bridge, restrictions are 36ft.

The hurricane slowed exports of LPG and other fuel last week as vessels were forced to stay offshore as operators inspected terminals for damage and the Coast Guard surveyed the region for debris.
