London, 28 July (Argus) — A temporary crude pipeline is in place between very large crude carrier (VLCC) berths 0 and 1 at the Chinese port of Dalian. A double pipeline explosion and oil spill disrupted tanker discharges at the port last week.
The temporary pipeline means VLCCs can dock at berth 0 to begin discharging, shipping agency GAC said. They will then be moved to berth 1, which is designed for smaller Suezmax vessels, to continue discharging at a rate of 25,000 b/d. A second temporary line between the two berths is expected to be completed tomorrow.
