Eni starts Arcadia oil production in Egypt

London, 28 July (Argus) — Italian firm Eni has started initial oil production from the Arcadia field in Egypt's Western Desert, just 45 days after the discovery was made. Four more wells will be drilled this year and next, taking production to 3,000 b/d.

Arcadia is close to the Meleiha field and uses its facilities.

Eni produces some 37,000 b/d from six licences in the Western Desert, all operated by Agiba, a joint venture with Egyptian state-owned EGPC.
