Argus listed in leading UK company league table for fifth time

London, 15 April 2012

International energy and commodity price reporting agency Argus has gained a place in “The Sunday Times PwC Profit Track 100” for the fifth time. Argus is one of only two companies to achieve this record. This annual league table ranks Britain's leading 100 private-sector companies with the fastest-growing profits, based on the latest three years of their available accounts. The league table is published in today’s Sunday Times.

“We are very pleased to gain a place in this highly respected league table for the fifth time,” Argus chairman and chief executive Adrian Binks said. “The energy industry is a dynamic and fast growing group of businesses and we have worked to deliver the best possible service to our subscribers. Last year we added fertilizers to our portfolio with our acquisition of FMB — the leading price reporting, conference and intelligence agency in that sector — and we have been enjoying learning about and developing new tools for this new customer base.”

Argus’ business is primarily focused on assessing prices in over-the-counter energy markets, including the petroleum, coal, natural gas, emissions, power, bioenergy, transportation and LPG sectors. Argus prices are often used as price references in supply contracts as well as for risk management, mark to market and planning. Argus also publishes business intelligence reports for the energy industry, runs industry-leading conferences and has a consultancy arm.
