Bernard Law is an editor responsible for chlor-alkali and vinyl market in Asia. He joins Argus Media in early 2017 as one of the key members of the start-up team for Argus’s newly established Chlor-Alkali Vinyl Service. He has more than 25 years of experience in the chemical industry in Asia, holding various responsibilities in market and competitive analysis, benchmarking, sales, marketing and business development.
Prior to joining Argus Media, he has been working as principal analyst for Harriman Chemsult Ltd since 2004 and subsequently with IHS as both merged. He has been generating benchmarking pricing and assessments, including those of Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, caustic to alumina index. His in-depth knowledge and network with the chlor-alkali industries has further strengthened Harriman Chemsult and IHS’s position in the chlor-alkali and vinyl market and established the main pricing index of the industries in the region. Prior to joining Harriman Chemsult Ltd, he has more than thirteen years of commercial experience for specialty and commodity chemical, covering the Asia Pacific region. Bernard graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from University Malaya, majoring in Mathematic and Chemistry.

Prior to joining Argus, George worked at IHS in the Chlor-Alkali and Vinyls group where he supported the weekly chlor-alkali publication and the monthly and annual products. He began his professional career at Union Carbide as a process/project engineer supporting a number of plants, including ethylene oxide, oxide derivatives, olefins, acrolein, acrylic acid and infrastructure. When Dow Chemical acquired Union Carbide, he directed projects for polypropylene plants at Seadrift and Freeport, Texas. George has an MBA from Rice University and a BSc in chemical engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.
