Manager for Market Intelligence in Europe, Outokumpu
Antti Saarela has worked for Outokumpu since 2005 in a number of positions, from operations to strategy and raw materials procurement. Since 2012, he has been responsible for market research into stainless steels and their raw materials, and is currently Manager for Market Intelligence in Europe. Antti holds a master’s degree in process engineering.

Claude Chanson is General Manager of the Recharge Association. He has an engineering degree from the Bordeaux Graduate School of Chemistry and Physics and a PhD in electrochemistry from the University of Bordeaux 1. He joined the Saft Group in 1986, initially as an engineer in research and development and as project manager in the telecommunications and e-mobility sectors, before taking the posts of Division Technical Manager and Director for Li-ion technology. He has been with Recharge for five years, representing the rechargeable battery industry’s interests at European bodies and international transport organisations, such as UNECE and ICAO.

Elbert Loois is Managing Director of HiTech Materials Advisory, a consultancy focused on the material value chains of hi-tech products. He has over 15 years’ management experience in international business development, acquisitions and technical project leadership. Among his previous jobs was implementing raw material strategy for major shareholders in the Resource Alliance. He is Chief Executive of German mining consultancy DMT-IMC. Elbert was also a senior mining engineer in opencast and underground mining projects, and managed international projects at RWE Power.

From 2005 to 2010, he was Senior Vice-President Sales and Marketing. From 2011 to 2014, he was Senior Vice-President Sales and Business Development. In January 2015, he was appointed Business Director Synthetic Graphite. And in 2018, he took up his current position.

Tomas Zednicek is President of the European Passive Components Institute (EPCI). Tomas established the EPCI in July 2015 in order to promote the passive components industry. EPCI’s educational and information website includes information on the latest passive components, a database of manufacturers and a free online passive components handbook, the ABC of CLR. EPCI organises the Passive Components Networking Symposium as a biannual international event dedicated to passive components. Tomas is the author of more than 60 technical papers, a US/international patent, and scientific articles about tantalum/niobium capacitors. Tomas joined AVX Czech Republic as a quality engineer in 1993, becoming head of failure analysis on tantalum capacitors in 1994. Tomas worked for AVX Corporation as Worldwide Technical Marketing Manager on tantalum capacitors from 1999 to 2014. His expertise in capacitors was used especially for technical communication with high reliability industry, particularly in space application and co-operation with the European Space Agency. Tomas received a PhD in electro-technology – tantalum capacitors – from the Technical University of Brno in the Czech Republic in 2000. He has a master’s degree in electro-technology from the same university.
