Prior to joining Argus, David spent six years at the European LPG Association, where in his role as public affairs manager, he promoted and defended the interests of the downstream European LPG sector in the Brussels energy policy sphere. David holds a BscEcon in Politics and Economics and a Masters in International Development.

Mr Yier Meng is the team leader of Shenghong Group’s newly established LPG Business. Prior to joining Shenghong in April 2019, Mr Meng has had over 30 years experiences in international petrochemical trading business. He worked in Sinochem Head Office for 18 years focusing on liquid chemicals and oil products shipping, petrochemical products trading. Mr Meng developed olefin trading business during his work in Topship Chemical Ltd., and commanded a good understanding of C4 raffinates. He then moved up to LPG business and began to purchase Propane for PDH plants in China from 2016. Mr Meng followed up US shale gas revolution and subsequent necessity to export NGL closely, as well as China’s increasing demand for NGL with quick expansion of PDH and gas cracking investment in the country. His knowledge in LPG production and consumption within an integrated refinery is also worth sharing.

He has a very strong energy and business development background having worked for Shell International in senior management positions in The Netherlands and Venezuela. An Indian Oil veteran of 30 years, he is a mechanical engineer from the University of Kerala and has an MBA in finance from XLRI. He has a postgraduate diploma in brand management from Ashridge Business School in the UK. He is an alumnus of the Calvert School Baltimore in the US and India’s Lawrence School, and is a fellow of the Institution of Engineers (India) and a member of the Aeronautical Society of India. Mathew has held a number of key assignments at Indian Oil, including heading the polymer marketing group, heading the lubricants group at subsidiary company Lanka IOC in Colombo, and assignments spread across many locations in the lubricants and aviation departments. In the field of petrochemicals he has handled polymers, PX, PTA, benzene, LAB, glycols and butadiene business. A well-known supply chain and ERP/CRM expert and analyst, he also has core experience in ship chartering for chemicals and petroleum. Mathew has been a regular speaker at international conferences in the areas of petrochemical feedstocks, polymers, ERP, CRM, detergents and benzene. He has also been a guest faculty at the Indian Institute of Management in Bangalore, taking the course Business in a World Without Borders – Bridging the Cultural and Linguistic Divide.
