US fertilizer distributors American Plant Food (APF) and Neuag suspended operations during Hurricane Beryl, as some warehouses lost power as a result of the storm while others have since resumed operations.
Some of APF's facilities sustained power outages, but no damage occurred to the warehouses' products.
APF has been able to load out of Greens Port, Texas, near the Houston Ship Channel, although the channel remains closed.
Fertilizer distributor, Neuag said it began resuming operations today but was still not fully operational.
Distributors braced for the category 1 hurricane across multiple locations in South Texas as it made landfall on 8 July, bringing high winds and flooding to the region.
Beryl also damaged corn, cotton, rice and sorghum crops along its path. Reduced crop acreage, along with a delay in applications while fields dry out, could slow fertilizer demand in the region.
A derecho windstorm also disrupted warehouse operations and damaged crops in the region on 16 May.
Ammonium sulfate applications in the region have been delayed around two weeks past the typical application period because of intermittent precipitation across the southern US this spring and summer.
