Qatar's state-owned sulphur producer and marketer Muntajat/Qatar Energy has raised the Qatar Sulphur Price (QSP) for August to $106/t fob Ras Laffan/Mesaieed.
This is up by a substantial $25/t on July's $81/t fob after spot prices have increased over the past few weeks, supported by a firmer phosphate fertilizer market.
This follows a much smaller upwards adjustment made in July, with a rise of $2/t on the June price of $79/t fob, which followed a drop of $7/t from the May QSP.
The latest adjustment for August implies delivered pricing to China of $128-133/t cfr at current freight rates, which were last assessed on 25 July at $22-24/t to south China and at $25-27/t to Chinese river ports for a shipment of 30,000-35,000t. Sulphur freight rates have also softened in recent weeks on the previous month's $25-27/t for delivery of 30,000-35,000t to south China assessed on 27 June.
