<article><p class="lead">South Korean petrochemical producer Hanwha Total has resumed normal operations at both its Daesan styrene monomer (SM) production lines with a total capacity of 1.1mn t/yr over the past weekend.</p><p>Hanwha Total was forced to shut both SM lines on 26 July after <a href="https://direct.argusmedia.com/newsandanalysis/article/1947127">lightning hit the electricity tower</a> supplying its No.2 complex, forcing operations at its 1.09mn t/yr cracker, other derivative units and both SM lines to halt.</p><p>The producer has restarted its cracker, which is currently operating at about 90pc, while operations at its polyethylene, ethylene glycol and other related derivative units are increasing. Hanwha Total has also managed to resume full and normal operations at both SM units.</p></article>
