<article><p class="lead">Japanese electricity supplier J-Power plans to produce wood pellets from waste palm oil trees in Malaysia in keeping with Japan's carbon neutral goal by 2050.</p><p>J-Power is considering co-firing the wood pellets with coal at unspecified power generation plants to help curb its carbon dioxide emissions. A detailed schedule of the project and the planned volume of wood pellet output are unavailable. </p><p>The company is targeting carbon neutral power generation by 2050, aiming to scrap its ageing coal-fired units while introducing advanced technology including biomass and ammonia co-fired units.
