<article><p class="lead">Production at Chile's Caserones copper and molybdenum project is continuing, with any impact from the continuing workers' strike so far limited to mining operations, operator JX Nippon Mining &amp; Metals said today.</p><p>Workers at the Caserones mine began <a href="https://direct.argusmedia.com/newsandanalysis/article/2242820">strike action</a> on 10 August after government-mediated contract talks broke down. The mine is operated by Minera Lumina Copper, which is fully owned by JX.</p><p>JX said it is examining the detailed impact on operations from the strike, although production is still being maintained by those not belonging to the striking union. The plant is operating normally and copper concentrate output is little affected, the company said. It will continue to make efforts to reach a deal with the mine workers, the company said, while trying to minimise any impact on production.</p><p>JX earlier projected to <a href="https://direct.argusmedia.com/newsandanalysis/article/2214136">increase April 2021-March 2022 fiscal year output at Caserones</a> by 11pc from a year earlier to 136,000t. </p><p class="bylines">By Rieko Suda</p></article>
