<article><p class="lead">Brazil's mines and energy ministry authorized electricity regulator Aneel to hold power auctions in December for supply in 2023-2025.</p><p>Both tenders are to take place on 2 December and will be open to all existing power sources. The A-1 tender will supply power from 1 January 2023 to 31 December 2024, while the A-2 tender will supply power from 1 January 2024 to 31 December 2025.</p><p>Distributors from 22 August to 1 September need to present their demand needs for the supply period.</p><p>The tenders add more power to an <a href="https://direct.argusmedia.com/newsandanalysis/article/2329585">already over contracted scenario</a> and could deepen issues as more consumers transition to the free market.</p><p class="bylines">By Rebecca Gompertz</p></article>
