<article><p class="lead">Brazilian energy company Eneva has finalized the purchase of power generation company Celse for R6.7bn ($1.3bn).</p><p>Celse's 1.6GW thermal plant is one of the largest gas plants in Latin America and is contracted for its full capacity to supply Brazil's regulated power market until 2044. The companies <a href="http://direct.argusmedia.com/newsandanalysis/article/2337198">had agreed to the deal in June</a> but only finalized it this week.</p><p>Eneva also acquires the rights for the plant's expansion, with an additional 3.2GW in the project pipeline.</p><p class="bylines">By Rebecca Gompertz</p></article>
