<article><p class="lead">Japanese airline company All Nippon Airways (ANA) will launch a new air passenger carrier AirJapan in February 2024, targeting to meet air travel demand from southeast Asia to Japan.</p><p>AirJapan, ANA's wholly owned subsidiary, will initially connect southeast Asia with Japan's Narita airport in Chiba prefecture. Details of the operating routes, such as countries and cities, are planned to be disclosed in summer, according to the company.</p><p>AirJapan is also considering flights between southeast Asia and Japan's western Kansai International Airport, eyeing Expo 2025 in Osaka. The new routes to and from Tokyo and Kansai areas will raise ANA's presence in Asia, it said.</p><p>AirJapan's aircraft are expected to use less jet fuel because of their lighter body compared to those of full-service carriers, the company added. They have no seat monitors, and light materials, such as artificial leather and recycled nylon are used.</p><p>The AirJapan travel cost and service standards were set between those of full-service carrier ANA and low-cost Peach Aviation, in which ANA holds 77.9pc stake. Fellow airline company Japan Air Lines also has a wholly owned subsidiary, Zipair, with the same service concept.</p><p class="bylines">By Maiko Nakashima</p></article>
