<article><p class="lead">Brazil's total gas reinjection increased by 8.1pc in April from a year earlier, according to consolidated data from oil and gas regulator ANP.</p><p>Gas reinjections — when gas is pumped back into wells to enhance oil recovery or avoid flaring — amounted to 73.1mn m³/d, a 2.7pc hike from March.</p><p><a href="http://direct.argusmedia.com/newsandanalysis/article/2452748">Preliminary data</a> from the agency had indicated that the country reinjected 71.5mn m³/d of gas in the month. </p><p>Brazil produced 141.6mn m³/d of gas in April, a 3.5pc increase from a year earlier and a 2.2pc rise from March.</p><p>There was 50.3mn m³/d of natural gas available to the market, a 3.6pc drop from the same month last year and 4.8pc higher than in March.</p><p>Gas flaring grew to 3.9mn m³/d, a 40pc increase from April 2022 and a 7.5pc rise from last month.</p><p>Gas consumption on production platforms dropped to 14.7mn m³/d, down by 0.1pc from the same period in 2022 and by 1.3pc from March.</p><p class="bylines">By Rebecca Gompertz</p></article>
