Neville has more than 30 years’ experience in the oil, renewable energy and consulting industries, including 12 years with Exxon, where he led technical and commercial teams, and four years with Bain & Company. He has also led two small businesses and launched a successful innovation programme for the UK government. He has a master’s degree in chemistry from Cambridge University, a PhD from University College London and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry.

Henry’s career has taken in stints as an environmental consultant, researcher and policy advisor. He worked for international non-profit organisation Climate Group on US energy efficiency policy, as an Energy Department policy adviser on smart energy technology innovation and strategy, and as a policy advisor on the UK government’s contracts for difference (CfD) renewable electricity support scheme. He was responsible for designing a streamlined energy and carbon reporting policy for the UK, the third CfD allocation round, and more recently the new green gas levy in Great Britain that funds the green gas support scheme. Henry has master’s degrees in sustainable energy futures from Imperial College London and in energy demand reduction from University College London and Loughborough University.

Angel Alvarez Alberdi has been Secretary General of European waste-to-advanced biofuels association EWABA since its creation in 2013. EWABA is a Brussels-based trade association defending the interests of waste-based biofuel producers using feedstocks such as used cooking oil (UCO), tallow and other wastes to produce sustainable biofuels with greenhouse gas savings ranking among the highest available on the market. Angel has been working in EU government and institutional affairs in Brussels for the past decade, with a particular focus on energy matters and on EU legislative procedures. He started his career in Brussels with a stint at the European Commission’s Secretariat General, then worked for an international public affairs consultancy, the trade association European Biodiesel Board and a global law firm. A lawyer by training, Angel has an MA in European interdisciplinary studies with a major in EU governance from the College of Europe in Bruges, Belgium.

Within her role, Sophie analyses relevant legislative and regulatory changes, follows trends in demand & supply, international trade and produces daily price assessments. Furthermore, she has specialised in the main European biofuel ticket markets – Germany, the Netherlands and the UK – by assessing the cost of compliance to national blending targets. She has been with Argus since 2018, reporting on downstream oil markets for some of the company’s flagship products. Prior to joining Argus, Sophie completed a master’s degree in EU Politics at the London School of Economics.

Tomas is one of Sweden’s foremost experts in biorefineries and biofuels production. As chief officer and program director for the Swedish Bioenergy Association he is working on promoting increased use of bio-oils and biofuels. He has more than 20 years of industry experience in business and project development of biofuels. Since 2016 he has been the National Team Leader for Sweden in IEA Bioenergy TCP Task 39 on Biofuels to Decarbonize Transport, and since 2022 the Task Leader. He is currently a member of the Swedish Energy Agency’s user advice group on sustainability criteria. Tomas has an MSc in chemical engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm and the University of Hawaii, Hawaii Natural Energy Institute.
