Abdulaziz was nominated by Kuwait to join Opec as a Fiscal Policies Analyst (diplomatic status) for a five-year term in 2000. He rejoined the KPC market research department in 2005. He transferred to the US as the Head of KPC’s Houston office in November 2008. Abdulaziz relocated to KPC’s head office in the crude oil department in 2014 before moving to the market research department. His studies include a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Louisiana, a postgraduate diploma in petroleum exploration and production economics from the College of Petroleum and Energy, Oxford, UK and a Masters in petroleum policy from the University of Dundee, Scotland, UK. He has published a number of academic papers.

Previously, he spent eight years as a professional commodities trader specializing in arbitrage strategies in both the energy and US Treasury markets. Mr. Bloom earned a BA degree in economics from Gustavus Adolphus College and a JD from the University of Iowa College of Law. He holds the Series 7, 24 and 63 registrations.

Matthew Thompson joined Argus in 2012, heads business development globally and is responsible for the development and implementation of Argus’ strategy in collaboration with the board, senior management and staff. Matthew is based in London and also covers corporate development activities and other key global and regional strategic initiatives. Matthew has worked in the energy industry for over 18 years with broad knowledge across global markets and more focused expertise in oil supply and trading strategy, refining, logistics and marketing. He started his career at Petroleum Economics Limited (PEL), before taking roles with Elf Oil UK. Following his time at Elf, Matthew spent seven years as a consultant in McKinsey & Company’s petroleum practice and from 2006 to 2012 he was Chief Strategy and Business Development Officer of the Dubai Mercantile Exchange (DME).
