Vladimir Arutyunyan graduated from the navigation faculty of the Murmansk Higher Engineering Marine School named after Lenin Komsomol. In 1995, he joined the Murmansk Shipping Company, where he worked as the fourth captain’s mate and a navigator of nuclear icebreakers.
From 2006 to 2010, Mr. Arutyunyan served as the captain of the nuclear-powered icebreakers Arktika and Vaygach. In 2012, he was appointed Chief of the Marine Operations Headquarters, where he manages the logistics of icebreakers and other vessels.
Mr. Arutyunyan holds a number of state awards including the medal For the Salvation of the Drowning, the departmental title of Honorary Polar Explorer (Ministry of Transport), the departmental lapel badge For Great Services in the Development of the Nuclear Icebreaker Fleet (Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation), the departmental medal For Great Services in Strengthening International Security (Security Council of the Russian Federation), the departmental medal to commemorate the 150th Anniversary of the Military Communications Service of the Russian Federation’s Armed Forces (Ministry of Defense), the commemorative lapel badge In Memory of the 200th Anniversary of the Office of Water and Land Communications (Ministry of Transport) and a departmental commemorative medal.

His core expertise lies in the analysis and trend identification of the Russian fuel markets. Mr. Tavdidishvili has experience in conducting large-scale research and he has also collaborated as an expert with the EY and PWC working groups on fuel energy projects. Mr. Tavdidishvili was involved in the preparation of policy documents for Russia’s Energy Ministry.
