Overview

A significant volume of imported gasoline and diesel is delivered to Brazil’s largest ports every day, shipped mainly from the US Gulf coast and the Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp hub in Europe. Product is blended with biofuels following oil regulator’s ANP requirements, and then transported by distributors to supply large cities and consumption hubs across the country.

The Argus Brazil gasoline and diesel DAP prices are assessed independently based on transactions, providing key transparency to this market.

Price assessment details

What are the advantages of the Argus Brazil gasoline diesel DAP price assessments?

Increased spot market involvement by third parties other than state-controlled Petrobras and rising gasoline and diesel import activity in response to expected arbitrage opportunities have created the need for market intelligence. Argus price assessments for diesel and gasoline imported to Brazil on a dap basis are the only price reference based purely on reported transactions.

How are these assessments used?

The Argus Brazil gasoline and diesel dap price assessments are the main reference for importers and trading companies looking to supply the Brazilian market. As with all Argus prices, transactions by refineries, distributors and trading firms form the core of the assessment process, bringing transparency to a formerly opaque market that has undergone significant change over the past few years.
