Prior to joining Argus in April 2019, David spent six years as Chief Economist for global commodity trading firm Gunvor. That was preceded by 10 years at the IEA in Paris, where David headed the IEA’s Oil Industry and Markets Division and edited the monthly Oil Market Report. He also worked in energy fundamentals consulting and began his career with an engineering consortium supplying North Sea operators. David has a BSc in geological sciences and an MSc in energy policy and economics from Imperial College.

Nicola joined Clarksons in 1995, where she initially worked as a Tanker Analyst within Clarksons Research. Since joining the gas division in 1999, she has been responsible for analysis of market fundamentals and freight across all sectors of the gas carrier fleet, LPG, ammonia and petrochemical gas markets. Nicola’s responsibilities include preparing performance and benchmarking reviews, business development, market analysis, consultancy and logistics strategy evaluation. Nicola speaks regularly at international LPG, ammonia and petrochemical conferences and workshops and has been a guest lecturer for the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers and Regent’s University London. She has a postgraduate degree in the politics and economics of developing economies from Cambridge University.

Can Toydemir was born in Istanbul in 1967. He graduated from Istanbul Technical University with a degree in mechanical engineering in 1988 and went on to take a master’s in automotive engineering from the same institution. He also has an MBA from Istanbul University. He joined in Ipragaz’s Technical Department in 1992 as a Project Engineer. He was involved in the design and construction of LPG filling stations, LPG storage and sea terminals. He then became Technical Manager with responsibility for autogas stations, LPG and LNG bulkgas customer installation and after-sales service. He is currently Operations Director at SHV Energy Turkey, where he is responsible for LPG supply, logistics, terminals and plant infrastructure, customer installation and all relevant operational processes.

Joe Duffy joined Argus in 2009 and is now a Principal in Argus Consulting with a focus on petrochemicals in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. He previously worked for ICI, Huntsman and Saudi company Sabic, where he was responsible for the business management of Sabic’s olefins business in Europe. At Argus, Joe has worked on a number of consultancy projects covering the structure of the European olefins markets, investment opportunities in the Middle East and the potential for ethane imports to Europe. Joe is also responsible for the provision of regular client services for ethylene and polymers, the monthly olefins outlook forecast and the long-term ethylene and derivatives supply, demand and trade balance. Joe has an undergraduate degree and a PhD from the University of Glasgow.
