She has over 25 years’ experience in the natural resource sector and has been working in nickel and cobalt since 2003. Anne was with European Nickel from 2003 to 2010 as Group Technology Manager where she was the driving force behind the development of the heap leaching of Nickel Laterites. In November 2010 Anne left European Nickel to further develop and commercialise nickel laterite heap leaching technology. Alice started her career during her university years, working at a small steel trading company dealing with finished products such as pipes, beams, sheets and gratings. After four years she joined Voestalpine High Performance Metal Division, where she developed Italian sales for the Buderus Edelstahl mill, focusing on special steel forged blocks. She has also acted as sales and division manager for stainless steel and nickel welding wires at Rodacciai SpA. Alice recently began a new challenge as Head of the Trading Unit for carbon steel coils in the Italian market at one of the world’s biggest metal trading groups, DITH Duferco International Trading Company. Her technical skills and determination have led her to achieve leadership positions that historically were male dominated. Alice’s passion for women’s rights led her to participate in BPW (Business Professional Women, a non-profit association), championing the motto Women for Women and becoming young representative for her district and a mentor for young people that want to push their business careers. Mary Anne Alvin joined the National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) in 2005, and since 2015 she has served as NETL’s Rare Earth Element Technology Manager (TM), responsible for validating the technical and economic feasibility for separation and recovery of salable, high purity, rare earth elements from domestic coal-based resources in conventional, prototype, and advanced operating systems.
