<article><p class="lead">Brazil's natural gas reinjection increased by 11pc in April from a year earlier even as natural gas availability decreased.</p><p>Gas reinjection rose to 67.62mn m³/d (2.37 bcf/d) in April from 61.1mn m³/d a year earlier, according to preliminary oil and gas regulator ANP data. Reinjection was up by 3.1pc from the previous month. </p><p>Some of the natural gas produced in oil and gas wells in Brazil is pumped back into wells to repressurize them to increase oil production.</p><p>Total gas production was 136.8mn m³/d last month, up by 4.1pc on the year and 1.8pc higher than March.</p><p>Natural gas availability decreased by 2.3pc to 52.25mn m³/d in April on the year, but rose by 1pc from the prior month. Availability takes into account natural gas production, minus reinjection, flaring and consumption on platforms.</p><p>Flaring decreased by 4.4pc to 2.76mn m³/d in April on the year and was down by 7.3pc on the month.</p><p>The amount of gas consumed at production platforms for operations was up by 5.3pc at 14.78mn in April on the year.
