Umut leads the trading desk in HC Trading that is responsible for the trading of solid fuels (i.e. coal and petcoke) within Atlantic markets, including Europe, Africa and the Americas. His responsibilities also include the procurement of seaborne coal and petcoke to all HeidelbergCement plants in the region. Umut joined HC Trading in 2009, and since then he has taken different roles, mainly various trader roles in coal and petcoke trading for HeidelbergCement, in which he was appointed as the department head in 2019. He holds a Bachelor of Science in industrial engineering from Bilkent University in Turkey together with Master of Science degrees from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, thePolytechnic University of Milan and Polytechnic University ofMadrid.
