Thomas is System Manager at the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) System. Today, more than 5,000 companies in over 100 countries use the ISCC system to demonstrate sustainability and credible greenhouse gas emissions reductions along their supply chains. After working both for the German government and the European Commission on climate and energy-related matters, Thomas’ work now primarily focuses on the sustainability certification for sustainable aviation fuels. He leads the team managing ISCC CORSIA, the ISCC certification standard recognised by ICAO to certify CORSIA eligible SAF. In addition, Thomas is part of the CAEP Working Group within ICAO as well as leads the SAF Working Group within Aireg, the Aviation Initiative for Renewable Energy in Germany.

Freya started her career in carbon recycling as one of the first employees of LanzaTech, working directly with its gas fermentation process in the laboratory. She has first-hand experience of scaling and commercialising a new technology, from the R&D stage, through the challenges of fundraising and navigating the legislative environment to deploying new technologies globally. Today she leads the Government Relations and External Relations teams at LanzaTech, and plays a key part in advocacy groups around the world focused on circular economy, carbon capture and utilisation, the bioeconomy and low-carbon fuels. She interacts across multiple sectors supporting the commercialisation of new low-carbon technologies, including contributing to reports on scale-up and impact, and providing insights on common issues impacting the deployment of new technologies. Previously he worked as a Policy Adviser in the Energy Department on domestic and international smart energy technology innovation and strategy and as a Senior Policy Advisor on the Contracts for Difference (CfD) scheme, the government’s flagship renewable electricity support scheme. Angel Alvarez Alberdi has been Secretary General of European waste-to-advanced biofuels association EWABA since its creation in 2013. Angel has been working in EU government and institutional affairs in Brussels for the past decade, with a particular focus on energy matters and on EU legislative procedures. Development of the port’s renewable fuel cluster is one of its key strategic objectives. Joey is engaged in multiple projects, from biobased to power-to-liquid fuel production. He started his career in consultancy and joined the Port of Amsterdam in 2014, where he was originally responsible for strategic projects in hydrogen, carbon capture, utilisation and storage, and international port management. Joey developed the strategy for 2025 for the Port of Amsterdam, before he joined the commercial department in 2021.
