Tom Schmitt retired as president of Hunt Refining in July 2020, after taking up the role in 2015. He was previously senior vice-president of for Hunt in Kurdistan. Tom began his career as a petroleum engineer with Atlantic Richfield in 1979 and worked in production, drilling, operations and reservoir engineering, enhanced oil recovery research, strategic planning and acquisition evaluation. In 1996, he left the oil industry for a career on Wall Street, joining AllianceBernstein and quickly becoming co-manager of its Global Research Growth Fund, which managed assets worth more than $65bn in 2008. Tom was responsible for the fund's energy and natural resource investments, and in 2008 he founded energy and natural resource investment firm Taum Sauk Capital Management. He has a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Missouri University of Science and Technology and an MBA from the Harvard Business School. Tom is currently an energy consultant and a small commercial real-estate developer. Скрыть

Mr Sebastien LE CORRE joined the TOTAL Refining & Chemicals division in 2000. He held several positions in operation on site (Port-Arthur refinery in Texas, Normandy and Donges refineries in France) or in supply & strategy at the headquarter in Paris. In 2019, Mr LE CORRE joined the TOTAL Bitumen Business line as head of the Department in charge of the Bitumen Supply of all TOTAL affiliates. Mr. CK Lim began his career with Cosmic Oil (S) Pte Ltd overseeing the manufacturing, sales and operation of Cosmic Lubricants and Cosmic Specialty Asphalts division. In 2003, he took on responsibilities for Hiin Holdings' Bitumen Trade & Charter Division managing the regional trades and the company's asphalt tanker fleet. Under his leadership, the division doubled its trading volume and enlarged its trading territory from S.E Asia to the whole of East Asia. From 2006 to 2010, Mr Lim joined the Singapore Civil Service holding leadership roles in Healthcare, Community Development, and Industry Development where he enjoyed his work developing and implementing innovative policy initiatives that benefit Singapore. Bennie Greyling is Managing Director of AECI Much Asphalt, the largest hot mix asphalt producer in southern Africa. Bennie obtained a Higher Diploma in Mechanical Engineering in 1988 and has dedicated his career to AECI Much Asphalt and the road construction industry for the past 35 years. Bennie’s first position at AECI Much Asphalt was as a Trainee on a major road surfacing contract in Namibia. His career path has included various positions within the company covering all aspects of the business. During this period AECI Much Asphalt has expanded from five branches in 1990 to 20 and its footprint is expanding further afield in Africa. The group further acquired a modified binder and bituminous emulsion business in 2015 with three branches located in South Africa. Bennie has played a leading role in many major highway construction projects and several high-profile airport runway contracts. Hari Kalla is the Federal Highway Administration’s (FHWA) Associate Administrator for Infrastructure. In this position, he provides leadership to FHWA programs in highway; pavement; materials; bridges, tunnels, and other structures; asset management and related engineering activities; and transportation performance management. Dr. Taylor has more than 30 years of construction materials experience, having worked as a Materials Engineer on many major civil engineering projects (motorways, tunnels, airfields, ports) and later specializing in research and technical development of construction materials. He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree (First Class with Honours) and in 2007 graduated with a Ph.D from the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Nottingham. He currently holds the role of Global Technology Development Manager for Shell Specialities and is responsible for the commercialization of new technologies and materials. Richard is a Fellow of The Institute of Asphalt Technology, a Member of the Institute Environmental Management and Assessment of and was honoured to receive the Howard Medal from the Institution of Civil Engineers, London as co-author and part of a project team focused on increasing recycling and sustainability in surface course materials. Valerio joined Eni in 2007 covering various roles in the supply department, acquiring expertise on the markets and the specifications of various products, with a particular focus on bitumen and base lube. He is now responsible for optimising the refinery margin of Eni’s industrial assets in Sannazzaro, Milazzo, Livorno and Taranto. With his team they select the most profitable crude oil slate in different markets (Mediterranean, northern Europe, Arabian Gulf, west Africa, North America) and define the program of production of fuels and special products to maximise margins, and supply the retail, wholesale and trading markets. Mr. A S Prabhakar is a person who is very passionate about Bitumen. He is presently the Deputy General Manager, Bitumen and handles all the bitumen related activities at Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (HPCL), an integrated petroleum refining and marketing company in India. He is a Civil Engineering graduate from the prestigious IIT-BHU and has been with HPCL for more than 30 years. In HPCL, he has handled bitumen and bituminous products in various capacities for more than 20 years. He has also served as the Chief Operating Officer of Hindustan Colas Ltd., a joint venture of HPCL and Colas SA, which is into the business of manufacturing and marketing Value Added Bituminous Binders like Bitumen Emulsions and Modified Bitumens. In HPCL and in Hindustan Colas he has undertaken numerous initiatives in the field of Bitumen Quality, development of new Products and Processes, Product Placement Cost optimization and development of Flexible Product Placement Model to place optimum product at the right locations considering the seasonal variations in demand across various geographies in India. He has spearheaded the introduction of Crumb Rubber Modified Bitumen India. He has also played an active role in the shift from Penetration Grade Bitumen to Viscosity Grade Bitumens. He also played a pivotal role in introducing coastal movement of Bitumen in India. He has been a Council Member of the Indian Roads Congress and is also a member of the sub-committee of the Bureau of Indian Standards for Bituminous Binders. Yury manages bitumen and petcoke trading activities at DYM Resources. He and his partner incorporated DYM Resources in 2016, with a trading focus on niche oil products originating in countries formerly in the Soviet Union. Yury deals with materials linked to vacuum residue processing — bitumen and petcoke — with main destination markets in Europe and southeast Asia. Laurent Sourlin has worked for Shell in sales and marketing positions in Europe and in the retail and lubricants businesses in the US. His roles at Shell have included managing sales teams, International Key Accounts and various marketing projects. He worked for five years to grow the Shell Retail business in Africa with Shell’s licensee, Vivo Energy. In his current role as African Bitumen Manager, he leads a team that contributes to the growth of the continent by providing Shell quality products and a first-class supply chain to Shell customers. Chanine joined African Infrastructure Investment Managers (AIIM) in 2009 as an Analyst and is responsible for analysing and assessing investment opportunities, as well as the execution, performance monitoring, valuation and realisation of investments. Chanine is a director of three toll road concessionaires and several renewable energy companies in South Africa. Chanine was initially involved in the fundraising of the African Infrastructure Investment Fund 2, the fourth fund in the AIIM stable and the secondary market acquisition of further toll road interests in respect of the South Africa Infrastructure Fund, one of AIIM’s oldest funds. Jay was named NAPA’s Executive Vice President in November 2011. He joined the firm in November 1998 as Vice President for Government Affairs after more than 12 years working in Congress on transportation issues. Dr Erik Denneman is Global Technical Manager at Puma Bitumen. He directs Puma Bitumen’s R&D program focused on developing ever more sustainable bituminous binders. His team is also responsible for rigorous quality control in Puma’s global supply network. Before joining Puma Erik was Director of Technology & Leadership at the Australian Flexible Pavement Association. His field of expertise includes bituminous and concrete material technology, and road pavement design. Paul has been in the oil industry for 27 years, with 20 years in bitumen in both Australia and New Zealand. Both countries have moved away from predominantly manufacturing bitumen through domestic refineries to importing bitumen, driven by refinery economics. He has held various managerial and senior positions in refining, distribution and trading companies. After working in Asia, where he led the affiliates of a multinational classification and certification group, he joined Alma Petroli, an oil refining and bitumen producing company based in Ravenna, Italy, in 2016. Zhai Ning has more than a decade of experience both in commercial trading of oil and LNG, and in investment in energy including oil and gas upstream, midstream, refining and pipelines. He has worked for various global organisations, including BP, Gazprom and Broad Energy, and is currently director and head of trading at Sunshine Oil, the overseas affiliate of one of the largest independent petrochemical companies in China. Graduate in chemistry and MBA, currently one of the principals investigators of the MIT project Mastering Asphalt performance Javier is part of Ferrovial being Managing Director of Ditecpesa Asphalt Products, which is one of the most important bitumen sellers and manufacturers of polymer modified bitumen and bitumen emulsions in Spain. He began his career in Ditecpesa’s technical department in 1997, and subsequently worked in the company’s industrial, financial and commercial departments before taking on his current role. Javier has also helped manage the purchase of asphalt products for Ditecpesa’s parent company Ferrovial for projects throughout the world, focusing on the technological development of pavements and associated environmental concerns. Javier has outstanding knowledge of the construction and operation facilities of asphalt products including bitumen terminals, polymer modified bitumen and emulsion plants. He is also a specialist in climate change, content strategy and industrial health and safety. Recently has led the development of the first smart asphalt pavement for Steering in Self-Driving Cars. Bill has been a senior manager since 2002 and has over 27 years’ experience with Fulton Hogan. Since 2011, he has been responsible for the strategic management and oversight of Fulton Hogan’s New Zealand bitumen operations, including bitumen supply, storage, processing and distribution, technical aspects, training and health and safety standards, and liaison with Fulton Hogan Australia team members. He is currently leading Fulton Hogan’s development of bitumen importation, and is part of the team reviewing strategic direction amid the current changes in New Zealand’s bitumen supply. Frederik Norrman has 20 years of experience as a Global Procurement Officer. He has spent the past 10 years at Skanska, covering asphalt. Frederik started at the company as an Area Purchasing Manager, having previously worked in the international defence industry. Frederik leads a team that is developing the Nordic market and Skanska, enabling multiple bitumen supply. Eivind has a master’s degree in civil engineering from the Norwegian Technical University, where he started his career in 1990 at the Department of Road and Railway Engineering. He quickly moved on into research/development where asphalt mixtures and later bitumen became specialties. Moved on to an 8-year employment as technical manager for Shell Bitumen in the Nordic region. From 2008- 2023 worked for the Norwegian construction company Veidekke Industry in both commercial and technical roles, roles such as Regional Director, Technical Director and Bitumen Manager. Eivind has pushed technologies such as warm mix asphalt for more than 20 years and has gradually focused more and more on sustainability measures for the asphalt industry. Richard Willis serves as the NAPA expert on mix design, recycled materials, life-cycle cost analysis, and pavement design. He serves as the staff liaison for NAPA’s Committee for Asphalt Research and Technology; Council for Engineering, Research, and Sustainability; Workforce Development Committee; and Pavement Economics Committee Life-Cycle Cost Analysis Task Force as well as being a co-host of NAPA’s “Pave it Black” podcast. Richard has a passion for teaching and is consistently educating the industry on NAPA’s initiatives and priorities across the country. Before joining NAPA, Richard worked as an Associate Research Professor at the National Center for Asphalt Technology at Auburn University. While at NCAT, he conducted research on topics related to recycled materials, sustainability, laboratory mixture characterization, and life-cycle assessment. He served as the Principal Investigator on National Cooperative Highway Research Program project 9-55 on the use of recycled asphalt shingles in asphalt mixtures with warm mix before joining NAPA and led many of the asphalt industry research projects on pavement vehicle interaction. Deon started his working career with the Department of Water Affairs as a Civil Engineering Technician in the Earth and Rockfill Dam Division while completing his Degree at the University of Pretoria in the early eighties. His career went from Water to Bitumen since his gradual involvement with the roads industry in the early nineteen nineties. In 2009 he accepted a position as Commercial Manager with National Asphalt (part of the Raubex Group) in 2009. The acquisition of Tosas by the Raubex Group in 2013 led to his appointment as Managing Director. Tosas is the largest supplier of modified bitumen’s and emulsions in southern Africa and owns a large fleet of bitumen distributors, rubber bitumen and polymer modifier plants. Deon is currently also Chairman of the Sabita Board and served in that position before and through the transition period from the major Oil Companies being main sponsors to the current stakeholder position. Started working for Bapco in Sales Administration section / International Marketing Department in 2006. Part of my job responsibilities were price calculation of crude and petroleum products, preparing contracts, registration of new customers, meeting customers’ requirements and other administration related tasks. In August 2014, moved to the International Sales section where I handled the sales of Asphalt, bunker fuel, petroleum products and crude. In Asphalt sales, I follow up with Asphalt customers’ requirements, loading process, generating invoices and documents after loading completion and following up on their financial standing with Bapco for placing new orders. I also deal with customers from petroleum products and crude, assisting them with product requests or queries on BAPCO’s products; executing spot or term deals while keeping up to date with market fundamentals, staying current with market situation. Vincent Frate is a Process Engineer and Sales Manager at Poerner Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH. After 5 years of working in the design and commissioning of bioethanol plants, Vincent moved in 2011 to Poerner to work in the Sales Department. Currently, he is Bitumen Technologies Manager and responsible for business development as well as for the offering phase for new projects in the Biturox bitumen (asphalt) blowing technology owned by Poerner and the Poerner Packing Bitumen Bags. Mike is Director of the PPP Resource Department, where he is responsible for catalysing public and private expertise and resources towards the structuring and development of federal PPP projects that are bankable and yield value for money for Nigerians. From 2008-15 he headed the commission’s Legal and Governance Unit, which provides informed legal advice and opinions to various departments and units. From 2015 to June 2016 he was Director of the Contract Compliance Department. Before he joined the ICRC he was Team Leader in the Executive Unit at the Debt Management Office, where he had various responsibilities, including participation in bilateral negotiations and managing projects for DFID support programmes. Stacy started with Civil Contractors New Zealand at the start of 2018 as Technical Manager. Prior to this appoint, Stacy has worked in various areas of the civil engineering and supporting industries. Starting off in a civil engineering laboratory in Hamilton, he worked on a number of, at the time, high profile jobs. After this he turned his hand to crushing and screening by doing time at Svedala and then Metso Minerals. Originally starting at the Barmac VSi factory in Matamata he worked with the quarry solutions team to develop Metso Minerals quarry product offering. Post this, Stacy worked for Winstone Aggregates and Green Vision Recycling supplying aggregate to the wider industry. Since starting at Civil Contractors New Zealand, Stacy has been involved in the various client and CCNZ lead committees. Stephen Jones is Senior Vice President of Oil Markets Strategy at Argus and is based in Houston. Stephen leads engagements with industry stakeholders on strategic matters related to market fundamentals, regulatory developments, and price factors across the petroleum sectors. Stephen joined Argus in 2017 as the manager of the Americas Oil Markets Business Development team and became the Global Head of Oil Products in 2018 where he was responsible for Argus pricing solutions for the rapidly changing trading requirements for gasoline, jet fuel, diesel, marine fuels, base oils, asphalt, refinery feedstocks and biofuels markets. Stephen has expertise in all aspects of the energy business, having served clients for 34 years in the industry. Prior to Argus, Stephen was with Purvin & Gertz and IHS Markit for 17 years where he was Vice President of the Refining & Marketing team. He has been an instrumental leader for large international teams, providing research and consulting services to clients in the upstream, crude oil markets, refining, natural gas liquids, chemicals, automotive, maritime, and midstream businesses. While at IHS Markit, Stephen was charged with leading the Energy Product Management team and the integration of the legacy PFC Energy, Purvin & Gertz, and CERA market analytical subscription services. Stephen began his career in the energy business with Exxon at the world-class Baton Rouge Refinery where he advanced through a variety of technical support, business planning, engineering supervision, and operations management positions. He then held positions in Exxon’s Refining Headquarters and Supply & Trading teams in Houston where he gained expertise in crude oil trading, refinery optimization and energy market economics. Rômulo Santos Constantino is graduated in chemical engineering from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) in 1987. In 1988 he was approved to work as a researcher at PETROBRAS QUÍMICA (PETROQUISA). He finished the PETROBRAS training course at the end of 1988 and obtained a Master's degree in Chemical Engineering (MSc), in the area of Polymer Science, from the PEQ of COPPE/UFRJ in 1990. He worked at Petrobras' Research Center (CENPES), in Rio de Janeiro, until July 2002, in the Product Engineering area (with emphasis on asphalt product development). Since then, he is Technical Manager of Betunel's Technological Development Center in Ribeirão Preto, where he works in the development of asphalt binders for the paving industry. He has published scientific papers on asphalt binders in congresses in Brazil. In 2020 he obtained a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Centro Universitário Moura Lacerda. He coordinates IBP's Asphalt Binders task group since 2014. This group is responsible for writing and reviewing the Brazilian technical standards (NBR) related to asphalt binders of the Brazilian Association of Technical Standards (ABNT) and the preparation of the Brazilian specifications of the National Petroleum Agency (ANP) for both liquefied asphalt binders and asphalt emulsions.
