Nuno Lacasta has been working on environment and sustainable development for over 20 years in Europe and in the United States. Since 2012 he’s been serving as CEO of APA - the Portuguese Environment Agency. He worked for academia and NGOs and as consultant for international organizations such as the OECD, the UN and the European Commission. Mr Lacasta has been in public service since 2003, having led the Portuguese Environment Ministry’s International Department, coordinated Portugal’s climate policy and directed the Portuguese Carbon Fund. In his capacity at APA he served as Bureau member of the EEA - European Environment Agency, and as OECD Environmental Policy Committee’s Chair. He holds a Law degree from Lisbon University Law School, a post-graduated degree (LLM) from the Washington College of Law/American University, as well as the Advanced Management Program (AMP) from Kellogg Business School/Católica Business School. Mette Quinn is the Head of Unit for ETS Policy Coordination and International Carbon Markets and Deputy Director for Carbon Markets and Clean Mobility in the Commission’s Directorate-General for Climate Action. Working on climate policy since 2011, she is currently focused on delivering the European Green Deal, in particular the negotiations on the review of the EU ETS, the Market Stability Reserve and the Social Climate Fund. Previously, she worked on ETS implementation, notably free allocation to industry and the ETS Union Registry. She also has a number of years’ experience on international and EU domestic climate finance and innovation issues and she took part in the negotiations of the international climate agreement in Paris in 2015. Within the European Commission she has previously worked in the Directorate-General for Enterprise and Industry on innovation policy and benchmarking. Johan Börje has more than 30 years’ experience in international relations, technology, sustainability, circular economy and energy. At Stockholm Exergi he played a key role in the company’s successful application to the first round of grants from the EU Innovation Fund, responsible for the sections on market potential, sales approach and funding of the project. Today, he leads the work to secure the additional funding for the company’s BECCS project, with particular focus on the Voluntary Carbon Market and its demand for carbon removal with permanent storage. In addition to engaging with corporation looking to acquire technical negative emissions to become net-zero, Johan is directly involved in policy work related to climate accounting and the mechanisms for certification of carbon removals. He is also the company’s representative at the Negative Emissions Platform. His presentation will high-light the key challenges facing the much-desired volume deployment of negative emissions with permanent storage. Скрыть

Jonny Gilson is a professional specialising in energy transition markets, with a decade-long career encompassing both sell-side and buy-side experience. While initially focused on renewable power and renewable gas, he has successfully transitioned to the voluntary carbon markets, concentrating on capital deployment across diverse technologies within this sector. As Head of Investments, Jonny is instrumental in shaping strategy, conducting thorough project evaluations, and effectively managing risks. Ed Mitchard has spent ~20 years using satellite data to map the changing carbon stocks of the world's forests and peatlands. As a professor at Edinburgh University he published over 100 scientific papers, raised $8 million in research funding, and measured >15,000 trees across 13 countries. He has advised governments on how to monitor their forests, been deeply involved in the evolution of carbon standards, including Verra’s VCS and the Plan Vivo Standard, and supported carbon project developers around the world. In 2017 he co-founded Space Intelligence with Dr Murray Collins, to bring high accuracy satellite-derived maps to nature-based carbon offset projects. This was urgent because he thought carbon finance was essential to halt forest destruction and start restoration, but the latest methods and best satellite datasets were not being used. Space Intelligence has grown to 46 employees, providing high quality maps to carbon projects around the world. Скрыть

Oleg is the Regional Director for the I-REC Standard Foundation with the focus on stakeholder support and market building in the EAC development for Middle East & Central Asia. He is facilitating governments, renewable energy producers and consumers across these regions in the development of voluntary markets and EAC standardization. Oleg is the active lead on the Research & Development and the CDR certification at the I-REC Standard Foundation. Riham holds a degree on economics, anthropology, and sociology from the American University in Cairo, as well as a master’s degree in public administration from Central Eastern Europe University. She started her R&A career at Schneider Electric, where she specialized in agile energy portfolios risk management for large industrial and commercial clients in the UK and Europe. Ellen De Vocht is Political and Regulatory Affairs Advisor for the European Energy Exchange (EEX). In this role, she provides expertise on policy and regulation related to sustainable finance as well as European and international carbon pricing. Before joining EEX, she spent time in public affairs consulting in Brussels and local campaigning. As a political scientist at Ghent University, Ellen also holds a Master’s degree in Global Energy Transition and Governance from CIFE. Скрыть

Nataliya has been working for EFET as Communication Coordinator since 2021. She holds a Bachelor's Degree (Hons) in International Relations and Erasmus Mundus Master's Degree (Hons) in European studies. Prior to joining EFET, Nataliya worked as Coordinator for EU projects at the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung and as a trainee in the MEP's office in the European Parliament in Brussels. Travis is responsible for developing certification frameworks and registries for the clean economy at Evident. He oversaw development of registries for renewables and low-methane natural gas before co-founding the CDR standard C-Capsule. Policy Officer at Bioenergy Europe he is responsible for the Competitiveness working group dealing chiefly with corporate use of bioenergy, innovation and digitalisation and support measures. He also coordinates the WG Carbon Dioxide Removal, an interactive forum to explore policy options for the creation of negative emission certificates and incentives within EU energy and climate policies and to foster the dissemination of knowledge and research on negative emission technologies. Joana Fonseca has a background in Energy Engineering and Management and has been working in field of hydrogen for two years. As a Senior Analyst at Hydrogen Europe, she specializes in industrial consumption, extracting data from announced clean hydrogen projects and developing deep-dive analysis on different use-cases. Dr Mostyn Brown leads AFRY’s modelling of the world’s largest carbon markets including the EU ETS and the voluntary offset and carbon removals market. He has worked on least-cost pathways to net zero for over 10 years, advising US tech companies, large utilities, and financial players, on the evolving commercial and policy landscape, as well as representing AFRY on cross-cutting initiatives like the Taskforce on Scaling Voluntary Carbon Markets (TSVCM), and developing Elpis, the first model capable of projecting permanent carbon removal credit prices and volumes. Prior to AFRY, Mostyn worked for a micro-solar start-up in East Africa and worked as a Systems Biologist at the University of Oxford, researching the world’s smallest electric motor. Скрыть

Ben is an Emissions Analyst at global research house Energy Aspects. He analyses policies, supply and demand fundamentals and prices for markets such as the EU and UK emissions trading systems. He previously worked at ICIS, producing news and analysis on carbon, natural gas and electricity markets. Eva Pintado is Technical Manager at Permian Global, having joined the company in 2015. She is involved in all aspects relating to the climate mitigation processes of REDD+ projects, including baseline modelling, emissions estimation, monitoring and certification process. Her job involves working with both satellite and field data, keeping up to date with the latest science and technology and having a deep understanding of the certification requirements and processes. She holds a BSc in Environmental Science from University of Cadiz (Spain) and MSc in Environmental Monitoring, Modelling and Management from King’s College London. Bo Qin is the Lead Carbon Analyst at BloombergNEF (BNEF), a strategic research provider covering low-carbon technologies and business model transitions. Her research focuses on carbon policy development and price forecasting with an emphasis on the European and the U.S. markets. Bo and her team support energy companies, technology and manufacturing companies, financial institutions and policymakers navigating the transition towards a cleaner future. She joined Bloomberg in 2015 and has previously led BNEF’s European utility strategy research. She holds a BA in Accounting and MSc in International Business Management from Aalto University. Скрыть

Lena leads origination and structuring for Environmental Products at Freepoint Commodities, in APAC outside China, focusing on Nature-Based Solution (“NBS”) Projects and decarbonization projects in the region, specifically with carbon trading angle. She has more than 25 years of experience, with 18 years spent in banking, i.e. JPMorgan, Credit Suisse, Merrill Lynch, ABN Amro, primarily in structured derivatives embedded in financing, M&A, ECM and DCM in South East Asia (“SEA”). She joined Mercuria Energy Trading in 2014, to lead principal investments and structured origination in SEA. In 2017 she joined Hartree Partners as Head of Origination Asia, where she focused mostly originating NBS and energy transition projects such as energy storage, and renewable power projects in APAC. Lena is an alumni of Stanford University Graduate School of Business, she has Master’s in Finance from University of Indonesia (Cum Laude), Civil Engineering degree from Institute Technology Bandung, and a CFA charter holder since 2002. Adam joined the Argus Media business development team in April 2022 to lead the development of a pricing & reporting product for the voluntary carbon markets. After spending the earlier part of his career with Enron and Williams Energy in physical oil trading & distribution, Adam spent 10 years in the commodities group at Morgan Stanley working with corporate clients in the energy derivatives space. Helping clients navigate the early years of the ETS started his journey in carbon and later, as Head of EMEA Energy Origination at Commonwealth Bank of Australia, he worked with clients wanting to start to engage with the voluntary carbon markets. Adam has an academic background as a chemist having completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Manchester Institute of Science & Technology and has a bilingual MBA from IESE Business School in Barcelona.
