Jane Hupe is the ICAO Director responsible for the environmental programme of the Organization. Ms. Hupe has been at the forefront of ICAO’s efforts to define and promote policies and standards for an environmentally sustainable aviation which encompasses aircraft noise and aircraft engine emissions, local air quality and climate change, sustainable energy and market-based measures. Her responsibilities include directing ICAO environmental activities, and serving as the Secretary of the ICAO Council’s Committee on Aviation Environmental Protection (CAEP). Ms. Hupe coordinates aviation and the environment activities with other International Organizations and she is also in charge of the Strategy on assistance and capacity-building of ICAO Member States in this area. Contributing to the IPCC work as a lead author on aviation-related issues, she received a certificate acknowledging her contribution to the IPCC’s award of the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize. Prior to joining ICAO, Ms. Hupe served as advisor on environmental matters to the Brazilian Aviation Authorities for 15 years. Ms. Hupe has a Master’s degree in Aviation from the École Nationale de L’ Aviation Civile (ENAC), Toulouse, France, and many other post-graduate degrees, including in environmental auditing.

Previously, as Deputy Head of Unit on 'Energy and Environment' in DG Environment, he led a team coordinating the preparation and economic analysis of the 2020 Energy and Climate Package, which implemented the EU's independent commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 20% by 2020, including the review of the EU Emission trading System, The Effort Sharing Decision and Directive on Renewable Energy. Mr. Vergote has a diploma of civil electrotechnical-mechanical engineer at the Catholic University of Leuven (KULeuven) and holds a Postgraduate Degree in Environmental Management and Technology (KULeuven). Prior to joining the Commission, Stefaan Vergote was, from 1990 to 1992 a Scientific researcher at the Engineering Department at the Catholic University of Leuven, followed, from 1994 to 1997, by a position of Scientific consultant at IWT (Flemish Institute for Science and Technology) in charge of the evaluation of industrial R&D projects and a Scientific researcher at VITO (Flemish Institute for Technological research).

Dr. Felix Chr. Matthes joined Öko-Institut as a researcher in 1991, after holding different positions in the institute he has been Re-search Coordinator for Energy and Climate Policy since 2008. He has published numerous studies and publications on German and international energy, environmental and climate policy, served at several German and international advisory boards (e.g. the so-called German Coal Commission) and has been an invited expert at a number of hearings of the German and European Parliament as well as the US Congress. Key topics of his work include the design, the comparison and the implementation of emissions trading schemes, energy market modelling, energy market design and technology-specific policies as well as medium and long-term decarbonization strategies, the comprehensive assessment and monitoring of energy and climate policy packages and strategies.

Nevertheless Ioannis’ together with his team at KEN S.A. is responsible for the price forecasting, the PnL reporting and budgeting as well as the Regulatory coordination in regards to the activities of the Group. Prior to this Ioannis worked for four years for Watt+Volt S.A., as Head of Power and Commodities Trading, before that for another four years for Elpedison Energy S.A. as a Business Development Manager, for two years for Verbund Hellas as Energy Trader and before that for Markedskraft GmbH (now Wattsight) as Junior Carbon Analyst, in Berlin. He is a holder of two Master of Science diplomas, the first from the 'TU-Berlin' in Energy Systems Engineering and the second one from the 'Athens University of Economics and Business' in Applied Economics and Finance for Executives.
