The International Bunker Industry Association (IBIA)
The International Bunker Industry Association (IBIA) is the voice of the global bunker industry and represents all stakeholders across the industry value chain. IBIA’s membership includes ship owners/operators, bunker suppliers, traders, brokers, barging companies, storage companies, surveyors, port authorities, credit reporting companies, lawyers, P&I clubs, equipment manufacturers, shipping journalists and marine consultants. Formed in 1992, IBIA has members in more than 70 countries. IBIA promotes improved standards, knowledge and understanding in the industry. This is done through a variety of events and courses, engaging in working groups, by disseminating reliable and accurate information and offering practical advice where we can. IBIA also lobbies for effective, pragmatic and workable regulations. One of the most important arenas for that is at the International Maritime Organization (IMO) where IBIA has consultative status as a non-governmental organisation. IBIA attends all meetings of the IMO’s Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC), the Maritime Safety Committee (MSC) and a number of Sub-Committees.

Ammonia Energy Association
The Ammonia Energy Association (AEA) is a global non-profit industry association that promotes the responsible use of ammonia in a sustainable energy economy. The AEA’s mission encompasses both the decarbonization of ammonia for existing applications, including fertilizers, chemicals, explosives, and other industrial processes, as well as the adoption of low-carbon ammonia in new applications, including direct use as a fuel for electric power generation or maritime transport, and indirect use as a hydrogen carrier and carbon-free energy commodity. Established in 2004, the AEA membership includes 140 corporations around the world; in 2020 it launched its first regional arm, AEA Australia. Among other initiatives, the AEA is seeking to facilitate the establishment of a globally harmonised Certification Scheme for Low-Carbon Ammonia. More information is available at ammoniaenergy.org.

The Society for Gas as a Marine Fuel (SGMF)
The Society for Gas as a Marine Fuel (SGMF) is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) established to promote safety and industry best practice in the use of gas as a marine fuel. The Society has Consultative Status with the IMO and is governed by a representative Board and driven by three principal Committees. SGMF has several working groups at any one-time solving issues and producing outputs such as Guidelines and checklists for the industry. The Society has produced thirteen ISBN publications, has over 150 international members ranging from energy majors, port authorities, fuel suppliers through to equipment manufacturers and classification societies. The Society is the definitive information resource for the industry.

The Methanol Institute (MI) serves as the global trade association for the methanol industry, representing the world’s leading producers, distributors, and technology companies. MI promotes the benefits of methanol as a short and long-term solution for decarbonizing the shipping industry. Founded in 1989 in Washington DC, MI now represents its members from five offices around world in Singapore, Washington DC, Beijing, Brussels and Delhi.
