Earlier in his career, Daniel had roles in Schlumberger and Transocean across several countries including Nigeria, UK, France and Brazil. Juan Carlos has more than 18 years of professional experience, with 12 years of commercial experience in the Americas and European energy value chains, with a strong focus in trading and commercial development in the upstream and downstream sectors including refining, logistics and supply. In 2005, he started his international career as a project engineer in the water treatment sector, working at Veolia Water in the US for six years. After finishing his MBA at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, he joined BP in 2012 and spent six years working in Chicago and London in the commercial space. After more than 14 years abroad, he decided to return to his native Colombia and joined Ecopetrol in 2018 as the global head of crude and carbon trading, leading the commercial strategy of Ecopetrol´s crude oil portfolio and commercial decarbonisation.

James is responsible for raising commodity price reporting agency Argus’ profile in Europe and Africa, with a particular focus on the crude oil, refined products and LPG sectors. He works closely with companies and governments to help them find ways to price commodities transparently and fairly. James has been with Argus since 2004 in several editorial and business development roles, including editing European electricity and emissions market publications. In 2007-10, he was the editor of the daily Argus Crude report, managing a global team of reporters and developing new crude price assessments. Prior to joining Argus, James worked as a teacher and as a journalist. He holds a BA in English and American Literature from Manchester University and an MA in International Journalism from London’s City University.

Pedro was appointed as commercial and marketing vice-president of the Ecopetrol Group, the largest oil and gas conglomerate in Colombia and one of the largest in Latin America, in April 2017. He holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the Industrial University of Santander, a master’s degree in industrial and systems engineering from the University of Florida, where he was a Fulbright Scholar, and an MBA from the IE Business School in Madrid, Spain. He has more than 33 years of experience in the oil and gas industry and previously spent 15 years in the upstream business with Chevron petroleum company in different locations, and his last assignment was as the commercial and business planning manager for Chevron Latin America, where he also served as a member of the leadership team. He was CEO of the Empresa de Pesquisa Energética/EPE coordinating studies to subsidize the planning of the energy sector, covering electric power, oil and natural gas and their oil products and biofuels. He was executive secretary and acting minister of Mines and Energy, where he coordinated the working group that prepared the new model for the electricity sector.
