Laurent Cohen is the Global Marketing Manager for Solvay’s Metal Extraction business. He has 20 years of experience in marketing and strategy, and has held leadership positions in large chemical corporations, strategy consulting firms and governmental organisations. Laurent is a graduate of MIT at Cambridge in the US and from the Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussees in Paris, France. Clive Whittington is Managing Director of C. M. Whittington and Associates Ltd, with offices in Hong Kong and Melbourne. His focus is on sales of primary nickel metal and salts in Asia, and with Hong Kong partners is involved in LME hedging, physical logistics and technical sales support. Clive undertakes original R&D on the better use of nickel in end-use applications and provides services to the global Nickel Institute plus users of nickel in industry and those planning to supply nickel sulphate to the battery industry. Prior to his own companies, he worked with Alcoa on aluminium and before that with Inco (now Vale) on nickel marketing. Mark Seddon is Senior Manager (Metals), Consulting Services, based in London. He is responsible for Argus’ rare earths and tungsten monthly outlooks and for developing metals consulting services. With over 25 years’ experience in the commodities industry as a trader, researcher, consultant and company executive, Mark has a wealth of experience in the metals sector. After gaining a BA (Hons) Degree in European Business Administration, as well as a Diplôme d’Études Supérieures Européennes de Management, Mark spent three years as a sugar trader with Louis Dreyfus, a leading global soft commodities company. The next 20 years were spent at Roskill Information Services, a leader in international metals and minerals research. In January 2001, Mark was appointed a director at Roskill and in December 2010 became the Managing Director of the company. Maxwell is responsible for setting up regulatory chemical compliance systems and governance processes. He oversees a global compliance technical team that ensures product market sustainability, product compliance and safety. He also oversees the regulatory governance process for products requiring governmental approval, including filing necessary applications and handling all government interactions. Maxwell develops procedures to ensure regulatory compliance. He is also the company’s advocacy leader with regulatory authorities and board director with the industrial association, Cobalt Institute. The WEO is recognised as one of the world’s most authoritative sources for long-term strategic analysis of global energy trends. Prior to joining the IEA, he dealt with a wide range of issues around infrastructure finance in developing economies at the World Bank. He also assumed a senior manager role at Accenture's energy practice, specializing in corporate strategy, new business development and M&A. James is Head of Corporate Responsibility at Trafigura, having joined the company in 2010 to help establish a Corporate Affairs team. Responsible for driving the Group’s responsibility agenda worldwide, James’ focus has included developing the company’s leadership positon on transparency and stakeholder engagement in the commodity trading sector. In 2015, Trafigura became the first privately owned commodities trader to release an annual Corporate Responsibility report and to disclose payments to governments for oil in accordance with the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative standard. More recently, James has led Trafigura’s efforts in pursuit of the responsible sourcing of metals and minerals and, more widely, the assimilation by Trafigura of the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. James graduated from Lancaster University with a BA (Hons) in Management and Organisation Studies before joining De Beers as a management trainee in 2001. Read less
