Sébastien Abis has been the Managing Director of Club DEMETER since 2017. This ecosystem, which brings together 75 companies and professional structures, is focused on forward-looking reflections, global issues and intersectoral dynamics related to agriculture, food and sustainable development. . Around its member companies, it networks 18 higher education schools, mobilizes French and international experts and cooperates with 5 national ministries. Sébastien Abis has been an associate researcher at the IRIS (Institute of International and Strategic Relations) since 2012. Between international cooperation activities, management of business networks and research, he has geopolitical expertise on food security and world agricultural markets, the power of France, Euro-Mediterranean relations and maritime areas. Sébastien Abis is the author of numerous books and articles. Every year, he directs "Le Déméter", a collective work on agricultural and food forecasting. He has just published "Géopolitique de la mer" with J. Tasse and "Géopolitique de l'agriculture" with P. Blanc. In 2017, his book "Geopolitics of Wheat" received the Geopolitics Book of the Year Award. Sébastien Abis teaches at the Catholic University of Lille and at Junia. He is a columnist for BFM, L'Opinion, L'Express, Sésame and CyclOpe. He is a member of the editorial board of Futuribles and of the International and Strategic Review (RIS). He is scientific advisor for Futuribles international and Euromed-IHEDN. He regularly speaks in the media and gives numerous public conferences. Sébastien Abis is a reservist citizen of the French Navy (RCIT - Captain of Corvette) and a member of the French Interministerial Task Force of the international initiative FARM (Food and Agriculture Resilience Mission) under the aegis of the diplomatic pole of the Elysée. A graduate of the University of Lille II (Masters in History-Geography) and of the IEP of Lille (DESS in European Strategic Studies), Sébastien Abis worked at the French Ministry of Defense in 2004, before joining CALAME in 2004 (Centre for Analysis and Liaison of Mediterranean Stakeholders). From 2005 to 2016, he was an international official of the CIHEAM (International Center for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies), an intergovernmental organization.

Theo de Jager is a fruit farmer in the Limpopo Drakensberg in South Africa. He chairs the boards of FANRPAN, Agri All Africa and the family farmers network SAAI. He was president of the World Farmers Organisation 2017-2022, Pan African Farmers Organisation (PAFO) 2014-2017 and Southern African Confederation of Agricultural Unions (SACAU) 2012-2017. As a honorary member of the Commercial Farmers Union of Zimbabwe he was awarded their Oscar in 2021, and also received the Agricultural Writers Guild’s prestigious “Agriculturalist of the Year” award in 2009 and 2015. He holds a Doctorate in African Philosophy from the University of Pretoria and has published more than 600 articles, books, fairy tales and poems. He has been a visiting lecturer with the SA Defence College on global conflict and food security since 1991.

Since 2020 supporting the decarbonization of the Food Chain, providing strategic and technical support for Yara’s Climate Neutral Roadmap and the transformation to nature positive practices. Adam joined the Argus Media business development team in April 2022 to lead the development of a pricing & reporting product for the voluntary carbon markets. After spending the earlier part of his career with Enron and Williams Energy in physical oil trading & distribution, Adam spent 10 years in the commodities group at Morgan Stanley working with corporate clients in the energy derivatives space. Helping clients navigate the early years of the ETS started his journey in carbon and later, as Head of EMEA Energy Origination at Commonwealth Bank of Australia, he worked with clients wanting to start to engage with the voluntary carbon markets. Adam has an academic background as a chemist having completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Manchester Institute of Science & Technology and has a bilingual MBA from IESE Business School in Barcelona.
