José Fernando de Freitas is a seasoned professional with 39 years of experience in the international energy sector, including more than 20 years working as a Chief Executive and Chairman of the Board. He graduated in mechanical engineering from the Universidade Catolica de Petropolis (UCP) and attended the MBA programme at PDG-EXEC in 1992 and advanced management programmes at MIT in 2002 and INSEAD in 2011. He was employed at Petrobras until 2016, where he was the chief executive of the company's subsidiaries in Argentina, Bolivia and Portugal. He also served as Chairman of the Board at Petrobras subsidiaries in 11 Latin American countries, including Petrobras Energia in Argentina. Since 2017 he has been responsible for the reactivation of onshore exploration and production (E&P) activities in Brazil at regulator the ANP.
