Argus European diesel prices
Diesel trade in Europe has changed since the region stopped accepting imports from Russia. With more flows from further afield, the region’s imports are increasingly long-range cargoes from the Middle East and Asia. But it is not just the import flow that has changed.
The structure of the European diesel market has transformed.
With just a few ports able to receive large long-range (LR2) ships, these cargoes are being broken down and redistributed into smaller, 30,000t cargoes. Refineries in the region are also increasingly loading 30,000t cargoes from northwest Europe. This activity has transformed the Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp (ARA) ports into an export and trading hub, distributing diesel to the rest of Europe.
Only Argus prices capture this new diesel flow and provide much-needed transparency into this evolving market.
