Peru's state-owned PetroPeru is issuing import tenders to buy four ultra-low sulphur diesel (ULSD) cargoes and two combination cargoes of naphtha and high-octane blendstocks based on Argus assessments.

The naphtha and gasoline blendstock cargoes will be priced on the Argus Colonial pipeline conventional gasoline pipeline index. Bids are due on 11 July, and will remain valid until 13 July. Delivery will take place from 29 August to 2 September for the first cargo, and September 1-30 for the second cargo.

The ULSD cargoes will be priced on the Argus Colonial pipeline ULSD index, and delivered during August.

"This continues a trend that has seen Latin American countries increasingly turn to Argus pricing in recent years," Argus Media chairman and chief executive Adrian Binks said.

The US exported 63,000 b/d of ULSD as well as 19,000 b/d of finished gasoline to Peru in April, according to the US Energy Information Administration.

Peru regularly imports ULSD from the US after it moved to lower sulphur standards. Repsol inaugurated a low-sulphur diesel unit at its 102,000 b/d La Pampilla refinery in Lima, Peru in October.
