New Jersey Resources eyes Marcus Hook pipeline

New Jersey Resources is considering a natural gas pipeline project to connect supplies from Texas Eastern Transmission (Tetco) and Columbia Gas Transmission to Marcus Hook, Pennsylvania.

The utility is holding an open season through 8 December for firm transportation capacity on the 242mn cf/d (7mn m³/d) Adelphia Gateway line.

The line would stretch 84 miles (52km) from an interconnection with Tetco in Bucks County and an interconnection with Columbia Gas in Northampton County to Marcus Hook in Delaware County.

The project involves repurposing an existing 50 miles of pipeline to flow gas and connecting it with another existing 34-mile portion, which was converted to deliver gas in 1996.

Once complete, the line will provide a more direct and flexible path for gas to serve demand in southeastern Pennsylvania.

Subject to interest in the open season and regulatory approvals, the project is planned to begin service in late 2018.
