Atlantic Sunrise to start full service in August
Williams Partners' 1.7 Bcf/d (48mn m³/d) Atlantic Sunrise natural gas pipeline is on schedule to begin full service in August, pending final regulatory approvals.
A 550mn cf/d portion of the project that allows for gas to move from north to south on Williams' long-haul Transcontinental Gas (Transco) pipeline has already started up, the final phase of which was authorized to begin service in June, Williams said.
The $3bn, 183-mile (295km) Atlantic Sunrise project involves adding bi-directional capacity on the Transco mainline and new pipeline that extends from the Marcellus shale in northeast Pennsylvania to Transco compressor station 195 in southeastern Pennsylvania.
The project ultimately will ferry more gas to markets in the mid-Atlantic and southeastern US, allowing for more Appalachian production to reach higher-priced markets.
