Russian suppliers face stricter regulation for coal exports to Poland
The growth of Russian coal imports to Poland might be restrained by new Polish coal quality regulating rules for households and small users that will become effective in September-October. Presumably, the law is expected to set specific sizes and quality characteristics of coal allowed for imports.
Suppliers and importers of sized coal are concerned that some of the requirements will be difficult to meet, as sizes and moisture contents might change during long-distance transportations by train. The penalty for suppliers failing to meet declared quality standards is 500,000 zlotys ($137,050).
