Phosphates: Pemex restarts Fertinal phosphates complex
Mexican fertilizer producer Pemex has restarted operations at the Fertinal Lazaro Cardenas phosphate fertilizer facility.
The company has advised Argus that repairs to electrical installations have been completed and the plant is running normally. The length of the outage was in line with Pemex's initial expectations.
The plant originally went down following an accident on 17 February when a strong electrical short circuit occurred in the control room of the plant's main substation. This resulted in a complete shutdown.
Pemex previously advised that the production lost during the outage would be totally made up before the end of March.
The DAP/MAP/TSP facility produces 90,000-100,000t/month. Adequate stock levels at the plant indicated that the effect on supply would be minimal.
