Midstream company Enbridge yesterday began full service on its Texas Eastern Appalachian Lease (TEAL) natural gas pipeline expansion in Ohio, which is designed to supply the new Nexus pipeline.

TEAL has a full design capacity of 918mn cf/d (26mn m³/d), of which 638mn cf/d began flowing last year. Late last month the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission approved the pipeline to begin service at the new Salineville compressor station in Columbiana County, Ohio, paving the way for Enbridge to begin full service on the project this week.

TEAL includes 4.4 miles (7km) of 36-inch pipeline in Monroe County, Ohio, 1,790ft of connecting pipeline to the Nexus line in Columbiana County, the new compressor station in that county, and a new compressor unit in the Colerain compressor station. The $183mn project also modified an existing line to allow for bi-directional flows.

Nexus has a design capacity of 1.5 Bcf/d and began partial service late in 2018. Both pipelines are operated by Enbridge.
