Alter Trading buys Michigan scrap yards

Alter Trading has expanded into the Michigan scrap market with the acquisition of Schneider's Iron & Metal.

Michigan-based Schneider's operates a shredder in Kingsford, Michigan, as well as processing yards in Escanaba and Negaunee, Michigan, and Marinette, Wisconsin.

The Schneider's facilities will become part of the northern Wisconsin division of Alter.

Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. The transaction closed on 31 May.

Alter Trading operates scrap yards throughout the midwest in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, Nebraska and also has yards in Arkansas, which it acquired from Tenenbaum Recycling Group in 2018.
