Australian graphite developer Talga Resources has boosted the potential of its Vittanga project in northern Sweden by declaring a maiden mineral resource at the project's Niska deposit.
The resource of 4.64mn t grading 25.8pc graphite, estimated to contain around 1.2mn t of graphite, increases the Vittanga project's overall resource to 52.7mn t, containing 9.7mn t of graphite.
A preliminary economic study on Niska will start in November to scope development options and start permitting. Niska's mineralisation starts 4m below the surface and is open along strike and at depth, providing potential for the resource to be increased.
Talga earlier this month announced an initial agreement with Swiss battery producer Leclanche, which will test its proprietary Talnode range of graphite products as potential raw material for its manufacturing processes.
