Greek shipowner Maran Gas Maritime has ordered another LNG carrier from Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME), its seventh such purchase from the South Korean firm this year.

The tanker will have capacity of 174,000m³, along with M-type electronically-controlled gas injection (MEGI) propulsion and reliquefaction systems. It is scheduled for delivery in the first quarter of 2022, DSME said.

The order takes the number of LNG vessels that Maran Gas has ordered from DSME this year to seven. The six other 174,000m³ vessels are expected to be delivered between the end of 2021 and the first quarter of 2022.

DSME has also received orders for two LNG carriers this year from shipowners based in the Americas.

And the South Korean firm delivered a 173,400m³ vessel to Maran Gas last month, part of an order made in June 2016, DSME said.
