A crew member on the offshore platform that processes oil from UK independent Hurricane Energy's Lancaster field in the west of Shetlands area has tested positive for coronavirus. Production from the field is not affected.

The crew member is receiving medical treatment after being airlifted to shore from the 30,000 b/d Aoka Mizu floating production, storage and offloading vessel (FPSO). The FPSO's installation operator is working within UK government guidelines to determine the next steps, Hurricane said.

The Lancaster field is being developed in stages. The first phase — an early production system (EPS) that involved tying two wells back to the FPSO — came on stream in June last year.

Hurricane said last week that the field is producing around 20,000 b/d.
